Oma D. Short, 92, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Franciscan Health East.
She was born August 21, 1929, in Hartsville, TN, to the late Tuck and Emma (Carr) Cook. She attended high school in Tennessee. On July 19, 1947, she married Jesse Short and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1993.
Oma was a proud homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and gardening. She loved God and was an entrepreneur running her own sewing business.
She is survived by 2 children, Wayne (Martha) Short of Wichita, KS and daughter, Terri Coppock of Lafayette; brother, Henry A. (Vera Mae) Cook; grandchildren, Carmen (Short) Shafer, John Short, Kirk Short, Justin Stroud, Lee Klejnot, and 5 great-grandchildren; Alexander, Nic, Madelynne, Winston, and Cassandra.
Along with her husband Jesse, she was preceded in death by her son Dennis Short, her sister Gladys Reese, and grandson Paul Short.
