Dr. Olusola Akinyele, 77, passed away on August 18, 2021. Olusola was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, a renowned mathematician, and a former Dean of Science at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; former Board Member of Food Basket International, Nigeria; former Chair, Department of Mathematics at Bowie State University, and a Professor of Mathematics at Bowie State University, and served on various other committees. Olusola received many awards for his contributions in various spheres of life. He was a minister of God at Resurrection Church of Jesus Christ, Maryland.
Olusola was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Alice (nee Adeniran) Akinyele, his sister, Florence Oyebola Fadipe, and his brother, Isaac Olaoluwa Akinyele. Olusola is survived by his brother Gabriel Akintunde Akinyele, his loving wife, Elizabeth Taiwo Akinyele; children, Mary Yetunde Fayomi (Foluso), Emmanuel Olukunmi Akinyele (Adejumoke), John Olukunle Akinyele (Olajumoke), Victoria Tolulope Oluyinka (Olasupo), Solomon Opeyemi Akinyele (Abisola), and Joseph Ayooluwa Akinyele (Mojolaoluwa); grandchildren: 1) from Fayomi: Temilolu, Femi, Tomi, Damisi, and Semi, 2) from Akinyele: Wisdom, Peace Tomi, Timi, Toniloba, Aaron, Micah, Nathan, and Tori, 3) from Oluyinka: Virtue, Divine and Trinity. Olusola is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, the Bowie State University Community, the members of Resurrection Church of Jesus Christ, and so many more.
