After a vibrant life, we are saddened to announce that Olivia Chan Shipp, born April 26, 1998 in Denver, CO, died on November 16, 2018 in Rome, Italy.

Olivia’s joyous spirit was infectious and illuminated every part of her life from her deep relationships with family and friends to all of her varied activities. Her life was guided by her curiosity to learn more about the world and to mirror the good she saw in those she admired.

As a child, Olivia’s interests were boundless. She tried everything from soccer to unicycling and enjoyed skiing and inviting friends to her basement dance floor complete with disco ball. She was an avid reader and loved watching The Office and Friends.

Olivia was driven by ways to participate in and give back to her wide community. As a student at Regis Jesuit High School, she was a member of the Poms and Golf teams. She found great meaning in the Kairos retreat where she strengthened her faith, expanded her openness and love of herself and her world, and which she was a leader her senior year. During high school, she found time to intern at Sky Ridge Medical Center to explore her interest in medicine.

She was also a talented performer and student. After developing an interest in acting, Olivia spent time taking classes and auditioning, leading to several roles. She returned to southern California to attend her dream school, UCLA, where she was a Junior, studying abroad in Rome. Accepted to the Communications Program, Olivia was exploring paths in technology, human resources, marketing, and environmental studies through her classes and internships. She was a vital part of the Alpha Phi sorority and was the social media intern for the UN Women Los Angeles Chapter. As a Bruin Ambassador, she also spent time traveling to local high schools in southern California to recruit qualified students to explore UCLA.
