Oliver Randell Vance, 72, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home. He was born on December 4, 1949 in Caretta, West Virginia to Oliver and Frances Ann (Lee) Vance.

Survivors include his mother Frances Ann Vance, loving son, David Vance; six grandchildren, Sydney (Kevin) Gall, Alexandria (Jay) Vanderpool, Victor W. Martin, Billy M. Vance, Nathaniel M. Vance, and Echo R. Vance; also surviving are six beloved great grandchildren; and his sisters, Bertie Cora, Cathy (Bob) Hughes and Connie McCaskill. Oliver was preceded in death by his father, daughter Kelly Katherine, brother Cody S. Vance and sisters, Susan Vance, and Kathleen Drumm.

Oliver was a master machinist and lifelong tool & die maker. He owned Randex Tool and Die and Advance Machine and Engineering. He had worked for Honeywell Aerospace until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on motorcycles and cars, anything with an engine. He raced motorcycles and cars all through his 20’s. He built and flew R/C Airplanes and was a past president of the Elkhart R/C Flight Club. Being a tool & die maker, he also designed and made his own fixtures and special tools.

Oliver also ran a successful fishing lure and charter business for many years, called Great Lakes Angler. He loved science and was always studying and learning new things. He was an artist, a poet, and a master clock maker, again, making any of the parts and gears he needed for any project by hand. Later in life, Oliver was an avid golfer. He spent many days with his best friends on the greens. Oliver, like his daughter, was known for his unmistakable laugh and sense of humor. Oliver was baptized in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, may he rest in peace.
