Oliver J Pratt, October 17, 1924 – March 6, 2019.

Oliver James Pratt, one of our few remaining World War II veterans, passed away on March 6, 2019 at the age of 94.

Mr Pratt volunteered in 1943 for service in World War II and was assigned to the Navy even though his job as a printer afforded him an exemption from service. He served in 6 of the  8 major  battles in the Pacific campaign. After his discharge he returned to Belton and resumed his employment with the Belton Journal. He would later become the Journal’s manager of production.

In 1974 he resigned his position and created Pratt Printing which he operated until he sold the business and retired at age 60. Other than his time away in the Navy, he was a lifelong resident of Belton until he moved to Meadowood Assisted Living facility in Grapevine, Texas in order to be closer to his family.

He was a dedicated friend, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Pratt is preceded in his death by his six brothers and sisters and his  wife, Alice Lorain Pratt. He is survived by his son, Donald O. Pratt and his wife, Martha Pratt of Fort Worth, two grandsons, David Pratt and his wife Kris along with their two children, Courtney and Nathan of Colleyville, and Bill Pratt and his wife Katy along with their two children, Lilly and Christian of Southlake.
