Oliver Frederick Kent, 87 of Montville
Sadly we announce the passing of our wonderful husband and father, Oliver Frederick Kent. Oliver was born at the family home in Trading Cove, Montville to Ruby A. (Faulkner) and Frederick L. Kent in June 1927.
He was the loving husband to Therese (Quinn) Kent for 61 years.
He was a hard working man who worked at Thermos in Norwich and Connecticut Light & Power at the Montville Plant in Uncasville retiring after many years.
Oliver proudly served his country in WW II in the Pacific Theatre as a member of the Seabees. He would often recall the awful battle in Okinawa, Japan.
Besides camping, hunting, traveling, and his very fond memories of flying airplanes, he would fish and fish in his many boats and on the shores of Block Island. He was an avid reader of historical figures and events, and a knowledgeable vegetable gardener. Oliver was always busy with many projects and never wasted a minute of his life. He was a dedicated family man and spent the majority of his retirement years caring for his handicapped son.
Besides his loving wife, Therese, he is survived by his daughter Margaret Kent and her husband Donald Thimble of Block Island, his dear and close brother Bill and his wife Mary of Montville and Florida. Oliver also leaves many supportive and caring nieces and nephews, and the kindest of neighbors.
Oliver was predeceased by his two sons, Robert Oliver and Charles Quinn, and his sister Irene Sajkowicz.
