Olive Mardell Lidgard, 88, of Chambersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Heritage Health in Mt. Sterling.
She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Meredosia, the daughter of Jesse and Mary Jones Nunn. She married William K. Lidgard on Oct. 19, 1946, in Chambersburg and he survives.
She is also survived by four daughters, Marsha (Larry) Bina of Perry, Madeline (Donnie Bob) Buhlig of Meredosia, Carla (Steve) Ingram of Decatur, and Terri (Steve) Smith of Chambersburg; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister, Doris Moore of Decatur; and one brother, Donald (Kay) Nunn of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Letha Ann Edlen (surviving husband David H. Edlen of Greenville, NC); two brothers, Gail Nunn and Verlin Whitlock; and three sisters, Vivian Nunn, Lila Dunlap, and Donna Cooley.
Mrs. Lidgard was a 1946 graduate of Meredosia High School.
She was a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church, where she and her husband started the Senior Saints in 1987. She was instrumental in raising money for the church by making and selling Apple Butter, using her own recipe. She had also been active in 4-H and the Pike County Home Extension.
Mardell was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed flower arranging for the church. She also enjoyed traveling, having traveled with Bill to all 50 states.
