Olga L. Lowman departed this life for her eternal one in heaven on 19 October 2006.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep, after battling Alzheimer’s disease for seven long years.

She was born on 30 October 1921 to Frank and Augusta Lewis.  Her parents designed, established and managed a plantation at the time in Spanish Honduras, Central America.  The family moved to New Orleans where she grew from a young girl to adulthood.  She thoroughly enjoyed life and growing up in the New Orleans of that period and being with many relatives, friends and acquaintances.  During the World War II period, Olga worked in New Orleans with other young women of her era, filling vacancies left by the deployment of our military.

She was vacationing with three other ladies in New York City, during May 1945.  There, she met a young, returning Army Air Corps pilot veteran.  They had a somewhat whirlwind courtship between Luke Field, Arizona and New Orleans.  Olga L. Lewis and Captain Raymond P Lowman were united in marriage on 23 December 1945.  Their ceremony was held at the Army Post Chapel in New Orleans.  This marriage was blessed with the birth of three great sons.  Olga was a loving wife and Mother who inspired her sons to be the best they could be and follow the teachings of Christ.  She often had this responsibility alone when her husband was TDY.

Olga was always kind and helpful to those in need.  At one time she was acknowledged as one of the top ten volunteers of all Air Force Wives who devoted their time to many worthwhile causes.  If you needed to talk she would listen, if you needed to listen she would offer effective guidance.  She supported her husband and the Air Force mission 100% of the time during their 30 year military career.  She was the first lady for two Strategic Bomb Wings, the 17th and 70th, and was an inspiration for all.  Many called her a true “Ladies Lady”. She was an accomplished artist who loved to paint in oils.  She was a long time member of the Arts and Design Society Organization.

Olga and Ray were blessed to be able to observe their 60th Anniversary this past 23 December 2005.

Olga was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Alicia, and one brother, Frank Jr.

She is survived by her grateful husband; Colonel Raymond P. Lowman, USAF (ret), and sons; Colonel Raymond P. Lowman II, USA (ret); Doctor Rodney L. Lowman, PhD; and Doctor Kenneth K. Lowman, PhD; and their families including six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Lewis, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She also has dear relatives in Canada from her paternal family and in Honduras from her maternal family.
