BRENSKE, Olga G. (Hoppe)
Saginaw, Michigan
Went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 23, 2014 peacefully at home. She was 89 years old. Olga was born July 20, 1924 in Alpena, Michigan to the late Charles and Olga (Kirschner) Hoppe. She graduated from Beyer School in Alpena, Michigan and was involved in 4-H and took part in sewing competitions at the Alpena County Fair. After graduating, she moved to Saginaw for employment, and soon after met her future husband Glenn B. Brenske. They were married May 29, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alpena, Michigan; he preceded her in death on August 19, 1995. Together they raised three children.
Her family remembers her for her love of spending time with her husband and family at the Au Sable River fishing cottage and Gladwin hunting cottage, crocheting, watching wildlife (turkey and deer), and birds (especially cardinals and hummingbirds), and traveling with Glenn and her children.
Her surviving family includes two daughters: Sandra K. (Karl) Nitz (Brenske) and Denise A. Bawtinheimer (Brenske); eight grandchildren: Kristopher Nitz, Kelly (Michael) Iseman (Nitz), Kerre Nitz, Adam (Sally) Bawtinheimer, Steven Bawtinheimer, Amanda Brenske, Brandie Brenske, and Melissa Brenske; great-grandson, Calvin Bawtinheimer; daughter-in-law, Jan Bodis; two sisters: Florence Hoppe and Lucille Slick (Hoppe); and two brothers: Ralph Hoppe and Harry Hoppe.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Glenn Brenske; son, Keith Brenske; and six siblings: Bill, Hattie, Ervin, Alfred, Robert, and Jim.
