Olga E. Arnold Olga Arnold, long time Mallard resident died January 5, 2008 while a resident at Lakeside Lutheran Home, Emmetsburg. Olga Esther Arnold, the daughter of Rose Agularia and Louis Ortiz was born June 10, 1926 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the age of twelve she moved to New York where she was raised and received her education. After High School she worked at a law firm as a translator of four languages. While in New York she met and married her late husband, Edward Jay Arnold and was married for over sixty years. Olga and Jay farmed in the Mallard area for over sixty years and she also assisted with her husband’s real estate and auctioneer business. Olga is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jay Arnold, and her brothers Louis Ortiz, Jr., and William Ortiz. She is survived by her three sons, George (Nancy Murphy) of Richmond, Virginia: Tom (Jean Marie May) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and David (Mary Crotty) of Scottsdale, Arizona, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her sisters, Esther Camacho of Miami, Florida and Monsita Ortiz of Puerto Rico. Olga was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard where she was active in numerous veteran, civic and voluntary organizations. She will always be remembered for her love and talent for music, painting, singing, dancing and community leadership.
