Olga Madrid Chavez, resident of Silver City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Albuquerque.

She was born June 14 to Manuela Madrid and Sigifredo Chavez. She was a 1981 graduate of Silver High School. In her lifetime she worked as a cook in several local restaurants, she was a devoted Catholic of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was an active Cursillista and was a very strong believer in prayer. Olga was willing and ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. Her favorite pastime was to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful summer months. She enjoyed visiting with friends and watching sitcom and comedy shows. Although she never had children of her own, she surely loved and cared for her many nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces. She always remembered everyone’s birthday and was ready to make the birthday call. She will be truly missed by everyone.

She is survived by her brother Roldolfo “Rudy” Chavez and wife Dolores of Santa Ana, CA; sister, Irma “Erma” Madrid Chavez of Glendale, AZ; brother, Arnoldo “Arnold” Chavez and wife Alice of Elizabeth, LA; brother, Edmundo “Edmund” Chavez of Phoenix, AZ and sister Edna Chavez Wright of Silver City. Other survivors are her nephews and nieces; Adam Chavez, Matthew Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Louie Ruiz III, Jeffrey Ruiz, Andy Ruiz, Judy Ruiz, Sonia Chavez Cloud, Kenya Chavez, Veronica Chavez, Virgil Chavez Jr., Verizza Chavez, Kristian Arellano Chavez and Kyuana Chavez; three very very special nieces; Ashley Wright, Anissa Wright and Jamie Melendrez. She was blessed by more than a few Godchildren; Christopher Chavez, Alexis Ruiz, Anissa Wright, Amanda Burns, Antonio Jurado Jr. George Patrick Rodriguez and Gabriel Jaramillo. Other survivors also include Uncle Cruz Ponce and wife Josie of Silver City; Aunt Esperanza Holguin and husband Inocente Holguin of Salomon, AZ; Godmother Rosario “Chayo” Montes and many great nephews and nieces, cousins, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ and the Grant County Cursillitas.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Virgilio “Virgil” and Reynaldo “Raynie” Chavez and her Godfather Ramon Montes Sr.
