Oleta R. (Haack) Rinne was born to Julius and Emilie (Deubler) Haack on October 16, 1920 in Nemaha County, Nebraska. She was one of seven children born to this union. She was baptized November 7, 1920 and confirmed September 16, 1934 at Martin Luther Church near Johnson by Rev. William Fruehling. Oleta grew up in rural Nemaha and Johnson counties. She attended elementary school at Mount Auburn and Twin Oak country schools through the eighth grade. After her schooling Oleta worked in people’s homes doing housework and cooking for families and later worked at Jerpe’s and Swanson’s Soup Plant until her marriage.

Oleta was united in marriage to Marvin Rinne on December 3, 1950 at Martin Luther Church, rural Johnson by Rev. William Fruehling. To this union two children were born, Cheryl and Randall. Oleta became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek after her marriage. Marvin passed away March 11, 1968 on the family farm near Steinauer. After Marvin’s death, the family moved to Tecumseh and Oleta went to work in the kitchen at Tecumseh Public Schools for 34 years.

She collected “praying hand” objects of all kinds. She enjoyed going to yard sales and finding a “good bargain” while she was able. Oleta was a great cook and housekeeper. She was a very hard worker who spent a lot of time gardening and canning and enjoyed being around people and keeping up with family. When her health declined, Oleta moved to Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on March 4, 2011. She passed away there on January 2, 2014 at the age of 93 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Grove and husband Jim of Tecumseh and son Randall Rinne of rural Tecumseh, grandchildren, Clayton Grove of Tecumseh, Lantz Rinne and wife Lauren of Eagle and Emilie Swanson of Auburn, great-grandchildren, Allie and Wes Swanson and Kolton Grove, sisters, Elda Beethe of Elk Creek, Doloris Bohling of rural Auburn, Luetta Volker of Johnson, Lorraine Haack and wife Kay of Nebraska City and brother, Roger Haack of Beatrice, sister in law, Pauline Rinne of Tecumseh and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, sister, Doloma Rinne, niece, Christine Volker, sister- in-law Dorothy Haack and brothers-in-law, Clarene Beethe, Erwin Volker, Theodore Bohling, Leo Rinne and Allen Rinne.
