Olen Ray Smith, 82, of 2852 NC 87 Apt. 2 died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at AVANTE at Reidsville.
A native of Fieldale, VA he was a son of the late Isaac Noel and Mamie Woods Smith and he had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was a former employee of Family Dollar Stores and a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are sons: Derrick smith of the home and Michael Smith and his partner: Jamie Harvey of Newton, NC, the Mother of his children: Brenda Smith of Reidsville, grandchildren: Ashley Riddle, Christopher Smith, & Shane Smith, 5 great grandchildren.
Michael wrote the following poem about his father
He’s only gone on ahead of you,
Not just left you behind.
Although you can’t be with him right now,
He lives on in your heart and mind.
The day will come,
When you’ll meet again on heavens distant shore.
And the two of you will walk hand in hand,
Together for ever more.
