Olean Chapman Martin, a native and resident of the Winn community of Jackson, answered the Master’s call on June 7, 2022 while at Providence Hospital in Mobile. She was born July 13, 1947 to Evans Chapman and Annie Mae Chapman. Throughout her life, Olean was a member of Winn Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God, where she was long standing member of the Mother’s and Usher’s boards.

A 1965 graduate of Clarke County Training School, she married the love of her life, Sergeant 1st Class Joe Martin Sr. in 1966. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a seamstress at vanity fair for 32 years. Olean loved to help within the community and loved her family.

Proceeding her in death was her beloved husband of 36 years, Joe H. Martin Sr.; her parents, Evans Chapman and Annie Mae Chapman; five brothers, Richard Chapman, Lee Chapman, Samuel Chapman, the Rev. Lewis Chapman and Cristful Chapman; and three sisters, Mattie Chapman, Mable Pope and Mary Lee Chapman; and one great-grandchild, Rileigh Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Joe (Aretha) Martin Jr. of Jackson; three grandchildren, Joe “Angie” Martin III and Andjoua “Lucy” Martin, both of Jackson, and Ciara Pedleton of Whatley; one brother, Aaron (Evelyn) Chapman; seven great-grands, Kennedy Cody, Kavion Powe, Kayden Green, Khalii McMillian, Brayden and Bryson Robinson, and Bailee Kyles; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Chapman of Grove Hill, Jessie Chapman of Lower Peach Tree, Johnnie Henderson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Desarea Bumpers of Mobile; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, with four special friends, Samuel Davis, Lucille Rocker, Helen Deloise Calhoun and Luciel Coats.
