Odelle Marlowe Mize

Odelle Marlowe Mize of Greensboro, Georgia passed away suddenly, Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 95.  An 80-year resident of Greene County, Odelle was born in Lexington, GA on April 3, 1918 to the late Megs Marlowe and Jessie Reid Marlowe.  She attended Chase Elementary School in Athens, GA and moved to Union Point when she was fifteen. Over the years, she worked for Morgan Sportswear and Mary Leila Cotton Mill, which later became Wellington Puritan Mills.  While working at the mill, she was a seamstress and a shipping clerk working well into her eighties.

In addition to her husband, Rollin Goodman Mize, she was preceded in death by a son, Rollin Arthur Mize, grandson, Richard “Ricky” Merritt, a son-in-law, Bobby Merritt; and three sisters, Ruth Marlowe, Myrtle Hubbard and Louise Hardigree.
