Odelia Felicia Scherger Garrett was born on June 21, 1922 in Pasco, Washington to George and Magdalina Scherger. She was the youngest of four children. She met her husband, Donald Garrett, during World War II while he was serving in the Marine Corps. When the war was over, Don and Delia moved to Chicago, where Don went to optometry school. They finally settled in Knoxville, Iowa where Don opened a private optometry practice.

Three children were born to Don and Delia; Richard, Cara and Bill. Delia was a homemaker and took good care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved to garden. Delia and Don moved to Arizona in the mid-90s where they spent many happy years. Don was a pilot, and they flew to Mexico twice a year with friends. After Don passed away, Delia moved to West Des Moines and spent the last 15 years there to be closer to family.

Delia is survived by son, Bill (Karen) Garrett; daughter, Cara Watts; daughter-in-law, Nancy Garrett; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a niece Marijo Anderson. Last, but not least, her little dog Rudy, who will miss her terribly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her son, Richard; her parents; brothers, Ben and John and sister, Josephine.

Delia was a wonderful, funny person who will be missed by all.
