Ms. Oda Kay Crocker, 79, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1933, in Manchester, Tenn., to the late Edgar L. and Ruby C. (Duke) Freeze.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Leighton Freeze; and a sister, Helen Elrod.
Surviving are her companion of 41 years, Joe E. Reese, who survives at home; sons Thomas A. “Tommy” (Vickie) Crocker of Bristol, Charles E. “Eddie” Crocker of McMinnville, Tenn., and Jeffery L. “Jeff” Crocker of Elkhart; brothers B. Harvey (Mary “Liz”) and Samuel “Sam” Freeze, both of Elkhart and Terry Freeze of Indian Rock, Fla.; sisters Edna Moss of Taylor, Mich., Betty (Bob) Nelson of Westland, Mich., and Faye (Harold) Johns of Wyandotte, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Kay worked at Needlecraft Industries in Elkhart for nearly 30 years. She also enjoyed working with elderly shut-ins as an in-house caregiver for the past five years as well.
