Zarouhi M. Basmadjian peacefully passed away in Farmington Hills, Michigan, on November 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halleb, Syria, on September 9, 1937, she was the daughter of Nazareth and Alice (Libarian) Tufenkjian. Zarouhi grew up in a family with five brothers and four sisters. The family moved to Beirut, Lebanon, when Zarouhi was a teenager.
Zarouhi married Manuel Aram Basmadjian in 1961 and became a loving wife and mother to her daughters, Madelen and Silva, who were born in Beirut. The happy family especially enjoyed the many trips to the mountains, driving there by their father.
Because of the war-torn difficulties, they emmigrated to the USA in 1981, in search of freedom and a better life, settling in Detroit.
Zarouhi had a simple life, led by well disciplined virtues. She was noted for her creative talent of sewing, crocheting and needlepoint, making beautifully patterned dresses, tablecoverings, etc. This woman shall always be lovingly remembered for her amazing cooking skills, hosting many dinners for family and friends.
