Wilma Gladys Wilkinson of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 90 years. She was born in St. Genevieve, Missouri to Peter Minks and Aurelia Hanson Minks. On September 19, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Fred D. Wilkinson and to this union four children were born. Fred and Wilma had celebrated sixty-nine years together before his death in May of 2011.
Wilma was very dedicated to her beliefs and church during her lifetime. She was saved at the Southside Assembly in 1953. When she attended the Hope Assembly in St. Louis, she was a Sunday school teacher, played the piano and sang. She and Fred attended Tower Grove Park Church Assembly and she was a Sunday school teacher there also. In her later years, she attended the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church at Davisville. She enjoyed being a mall walker and was always very active in life. Fred and Wilma also loved to travel. She loved her family and loved playing games with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Fred Wilkinson, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Evelyn Phipps of Cherryville, MO, Madeline Carol Brandt and husband Jeff of Lakeland, FL and Beverly Cotton and husband George of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren, Rodney Volner and wife Mary of Florida, Everett Phipps, Jr. and wife Bridgett of Cherryville, MO, Darrel Phipps and wife Cindy of Union, MO, Roger Lee Boyd of St. Louis, MO, and Christie Jo Blaise and husband Eric of St. Charles, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Volner, CaSandra Boyd, Brianna Phipps, Adam Phipps, Mikayla Phipps, Aurora Blaise and McKenna Phipps; one sister-in-law, Nina Skaggs of High Ridge, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; son-in-law, Everett Phipps; one grandson, Jeffrey Phipps, two brothers Walter Minks and Floyd Minks and wife Loreen; ten sisters, Margie Minks, Frances Bushaune, Zoe Sherer, Opal Janes, Nellie Salamon, Connie Puckett, Judy Thomas, Dorothy Clutts, Amy Puckett and Virginia Marlar; three sisters-in-law, Leora Collier and husband Esco, Effie Neff and husband Ocie and Evelyn Janette Wilkinson; five brothers-in-law, Chester Wilkinson and wife Doris, Luther Wilkinson, Will Dee Wilkinson, Elmer Lumley and Herman Skaggs.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Honored to be casket bearers were Rodney Volner, Everett Phipps, Jr., Darrell Phipps, Roger Lee Boyd, Eric Blaise and Adam Phipps.
