William H. Youse, III, 97, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:35 pm Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

William was born on July 24, 1921, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of William H. and Annie (Neale) Youse.

He was married to Yvonne Arthur.  She preceded him in death.

Survivors include a brother, Richard Youse of San Diego, CA; dear friends, Niloo Hubrich and Mavesh Fatemi of Tuscan, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Youse was preceded in death by parents, wife, son, Bruce Youse, brothers, John Youse and Frank Youse.

William proudly served his country during WWII as a Bomber Pilot in the Army Air Corp.  William passed away on the day before the 75th anniversary of D-Day in which he was one of the pilotsflying over Normandy that day 75 years ago. William flew 68 missions over his career as a bomber pilot until he was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945.  Upon his honorable discharge from the Army Air Corp, William joined the Army Reserves and continued to serve his country until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel.

William worked as an Electrical Engineer in the oil industry in Louisiana and Texas.  After retirement William and Yvonne made their home in Colorado and later Arizona.  After Yvonne’s passing William moved back to his hometown of Hannibal to be with his nieces and nephews.

William was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tearing things apart and rebuilding them.  He also enjoyed tending to his garden and reading.

Mr. Youse was a Christian by faith.
