On Tuesday, February 7, 2023 William S. Phipps, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 88.
William “Bill” was born September 6, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph and Dorothy (Roeder) Phipps. He attended Missouri Military Academy as a boy and joined the U. S. Navy in 1956. After four years he joined the workforce as a delivery salesman for Colonial Bread and then retired after 28 years from Kas Potato Chips. In retirement, he drove for Wentzville School District for 10 years. On August 17, 1959 he married Virginia Carol Sanborn. They raised four children, Dorothy (Tim) of Moberly, MO, William J. (Cynthia) of Troy, MO, Virginia D. (Michael) of Lancaster, OH, and Debbie (Scott) of Clever, MO. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Bill was a Christian and loved the Lord Jesus.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his mother, Dorothy, his wife, Virginia, his brothers, Joseph and Robert, and great-grandson, Corbin. He is survived by his four children, Dorothy, William, Virginia, and Debbie, his grandchildren, Anna, Justin, Tina, Rachel, Kendra, Crystal, Tiffany, Thomas, Valerie, Stephanie, Nikki, Adam, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
