Welbon Warren Halbert, 85, of Villa Ridge, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Pacific Care Center in Pacific, Missouri. He was born October 6, 1922 in Dillard, Missouri to William Everett and Cora (Britton) Halbert. On February 25, 1950 he was united in marriage to Naomi Ruth (Baker) Halbert who preceded him in death on March 29, 1995.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Gary and wife Athena of Villa Ridge, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Lee and companion, Patrick Oglesby Sr. of Hillsboro, Missouri; six grandchildren, Sarah Vora and husband Satyen, Patrick Oglesby, Zachary Halbert, Joanna Halbert, Wesley Halbert and Melody Halbert; one brother, Roy and wife Gail of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Betty and husband Pete Gremaud of Chesterfield, Missouri; three brothers-in-law, Joe and wife Wilma Baker and Bill and wife Pat Baker all of Davisville, Missouri and Jim and wife Cathy Baker of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi, his parents, Everett and Cora Halbert, one daughter, Linda Seiler, two brothers and their wives, Pearl and Mae Halbert, Glenn and Daisy Halbert; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Virgina and Elba Wilson, Nadine and Ray Watson and brother-in-law, Kenneth Tinker.

Welbon was retired from Bettendorf Rapp and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 688. He attended the Evangel Temple in Maplewood, Missouri. Welbon enjoyed nature and being outdoors. When his health permitted, he loved reading about American History, especially the Civil War. Welbon always found a place in his heart for the stray cats that came his way, so he fed and cared for them. He loved his grandchildren dearly and will be missed by all of his family.
