Wayne Clarence Knutson of Warroad, MN passed away on March 21, 2021 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. He was 72 years old.

Wayne Knutson was born June 3, 1948 in Roseau, MN to Clarence and Jessie (Hall) Knutson. He grew up in Roseau, graduating from Roseau High School in 1966. After graduation he attended the Thief River Falls Technical College for two years, and received a degree as an auto body technician. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 and served until his honorable discharge in December 1971. He continued his service until 1994 in the Army Reserves after serving a total of 30 years and was honorably discharged again.  While he was in the Army he received numerous marksmanship awards.

Wayne married Mary Jo (Hassel) on June 3, 1972 in Roseau. They had two children, Terri and Bruce. He was employed at Lake Country Chevrolet in Warroad as an auto body technician and after 49 years there he was still working. In 1994 and 1995 Wayne received national awards for his expertise in the field of auto body work.

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, blueberry picking, gardening, auction sales, picking wild asparagus and anything pertaining to guns. He was a perfectionist in anything he pursued. He loved helping others and his family has so many fond memories and stories – too many to tell.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Jo; daughter Terri LaRue (Todd Moore) and son Bruce Knutson (Pam Faskerti); grandchildren LaKeisha LaRue, Jayden Knutson, Justin LaRue, Brianna Moore, Alivia Faskerti, Witney Faskerti; siblings Jeff (Sheri) Knutson, Dan Knutson and Janice (Pat) Kranak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jessie; brothers Keith and Rodney and nephew Keith Knutson Jr.
