Wanda Lee Pankey of St. James passed away Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center following surgery. She was 79 years 2 months and 18 days of age.
Wanda Lee Pankey was born April 8, 1933 at the Stricker Place, near St. James. She is the daughter of the late William M. and Bertha A. Bacon Kolb.
In 1951, Wanda was united in marriage to Junior G. Pankey. He entered into rest October 14, 1998.
Wanda Pankey is survived by two sons: Bill Pankey and wife Cheryl of Edgar Springs and Bob Pankey of St James; two daughters: Betty Jones and husband Melvin of St James and Beth Maxwell of Rolla; three sisters: Anna Mae Webster, Carmal Nappier and Bonnie Hahn all of St. James, along with Brother-in-law: Chester Crider of St. James and 9 grandchildren.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Junior Pankey and sister: Lula Crider.
Wanda was a housewife and dedicated herself to taking care of her husband and four children. She loved being outside and working in her garden. She enjoyed volunteering at the school when she was able and many times helped the school nurse with immunization of children.
