Portland – Walter Leland Spinney, 53, of Portland, passed away at Mercy Hospital on January 4, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Portland on April 15, 1961, the son of Samuel and Eleanor (Randell) Spinney. He grew up in Portland, graduating in 1979 from Portland High School.
Walter worked for many years as a painter in the Portland area. He loved sports, especially playing basketball. In his free time, he would often be found on a basketball court. He was also a big Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Walter was predeceased by his father Samuel, his brothers; Robert Keith and Ronald Keith. He is survived by his mother Eleanor, his sister Connie Welch and her husband Ben of North Yarmouth, his brother William Keith and his wife Mary of Gray, his brother Roy Keith of Portland, and his sister Cindy Croxford and her husband David of Gorham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and his special friend Mary Andrews.
