Walter Gavrilenkowsky of Harrington, DE, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old.
Born in Ukraine on April 13, 1940, Walter was the son of the late John and Maria Gavrilenkowsky. After WWII, he moved to the United States on July 4, 1949. In 1961, Walter married the love of his life, Judy. In 1980, he began working for Reliable Contracting in Millersville, MD until retiring in 2004. He loved gardening, crabbing, reading newspapers, and watching old westerns. All who knew him appreciated his sense of humor. He was proud to become a U.S. citizen on August 15, 1960.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by a son, David Gavrilenkowsky of Harrington; two daughters: Valentina Wolfe (Tim) of Culpeper, VA and Tamara Hoffman (Adam) of Seaford, DE; one brother, Victor Gavrilenkowsky (Sherry)of Glen Burnie, MD; and seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Christopher, Stacie, Mickenzie, Chant, Kady, and Megan. He is preceded in death by a son, Alan Gavrilenkowsky, a sister, Katrina Kibec, and a daughter-in-law, Diana Gavrilenkowsky.
