The Rasula family has lost their patriarch, Walter Rasula, on September 30th at the age 95.

 

Walt was born in Eveleth MN on November 14, 1926 to George and Hilma Rasula (Ahonen).  Walt was a proud Finlander and had SISU until he took his last breath.  He was a Merchant Marine and enlisted in the Army where he was injured in WW ll.  His education and career was in radiology. He was an administrator and instructor of radiology at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.  Skiing was Walt’s passion.  He was a co-partner of the origin of Blizzard Ski School then later on, owner. He was a PSIA ski instructor into his 90’s with Blizzard. He also loved golfing, hunting and fishing.  He taught his children to have a good work ethic and to enjoy the benefits of working hard.

 

Walt is survived by his grieving children; Lynne Wingo, Elizabeth (Liisa) Rasula and Lauren Klement (Richard) and daughter in law, Linda Rasula.  He is preceded in death by his soul mate wife, Mary (Hansen) and is now dancing in Heaven with her. He is also reunited with his beloved son, Jay. Also preceded in death are his parents, brothers George, William and sister Ellen (Washlesky.) and nephew John Washlesky. 

 

He is also survived by his grieving  grandchildren, their spouses and significant others: Julie Walsh, Nate Wingo, Jonathan McNeil, Paul McNeil, Aren Rasula-Kauch, Marissa Rasula and Jared Rasula.  Great grandchildren are Joshua McNeil, Brandon McNeil, Matthew McNeil, Taylor McNeil, Ben McNeil and Isabella McNeil. He will be missed by his nephew and long time hunting partner Stan Washlesky. Walt had a big impact on Stan’s career and life.  Walt also had an impact on the lives of nephews Mike Washlesky, Paul Washlesky, Jed Rasula, Jon Rasula and niece Virginia Dantes (Washlesky), cousins and countless friends at his extended age.
