Waldo W. Waltz, son of the late Clifford and Harriet Waltz, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Miles Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. He was born March 20, 1925 in Rockland, Maine. After graduating from Lincoln Academy in 1942, he attended Norwich University in Vermont. In 1943 he entered the service where he served in the European Theater with the 16 63rd Engineering Co. of the 9th Army Corp. He was discharged in 1945 from the Service and started working with his father at Weeks-Waltz Motors in Newcastle. In 2002 he retired after 55 years in the automobile industry. Waldo was a member of the Damariscotta Baptist Church, American Legion Post 42 of Damariscotta, and the Alna-Lodge of Masons in Damariscotta. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, caring personality, and would often be seen around town sharing jokes and stories with his friends. Waldo was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Banks, whom he married in 1947. Surviving are their four children, Perry Waltz and fiancé Mary Moroney of Fairfield, Denise Morang of Damariscotta, Debra and husband Darrell Benner of Newcastle, and Scott Waltz and girlfriend Alma Moulton of St. Petersburg, FL; six grandchildren, Kristie Clark and husband Robert Clark Jr., Kerry Wunder and husband Scott Wunder, Kayla Benner and fiancé Rob McMullen, Dylan Benner, Josh Waltz, Matthew Waltz and wife Hannah; seven great-grandchildren, Rob and Bailey Clark, Kortney and Nate Sheeder, Matthew Wunder, Elijah Waltz, and Jacob McMullen; sister in-law, Pauline Mann of North Attleboro, MA; and niece, Brenda Tyrone of Fairhaven, Ma.
