Virginia H. Nelson, age 94, longtime resident of Virginia died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Essentia Health – Virginia. She was born May 16, 1922, in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Fred and Matilda (Carlson) Nelson. She graduated from Denfeld High School and went on to obtain her BS in Education from Duluth State Teacher’s College, and her MS in Counseling from the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Virginia Worked as a Secondary School Counselor. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Virginia where she served on committees, the counsel, and was a teacher, the Virginia Study Club, Delta Kappa Gama, and the Honorary Teachers Organization. She enjoyed, learning about the Bible, Teaching the Bible, Taking classes offered through St. Scholastica and Luther Seminary, and traveling.

Virginia is survived by her brother: Donald Nelson of Camarillo, CA; her niece: Lisa Nelson of Pismo Beach, CA; her nephew: Brian Nelson of Bakersfield, CA; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law: Wynn Nelson.
