VIOLET ALICE ‘Vi’ CURTIS Scarborough – Violet Alice “Vi” Curtis~peacefully passed into Glory on January 26 at her home in Scarborough surrounded by family. She was born in Thomaston, Maine on March 23, 1924, one of 13 children born to the late Joseph and Anna (Cote) Paquin.~
Violet graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Class of 1942. On July 5, 1943 she married the love of her life George Curtis Jr. They celebrated 70 Years of marriage in July of 2013. George passed away in June of 2014. Violet attended the First Baptist Church of Portland.
Vi was a dedicated mother and homemaker for most of her life but once her kids were older she got her very first driver’s license at age 50, and then bravely entered the work force shortly thereafter. She first worked as an office manager for Dr. Norm Lyford, a former CIA psychologist who moved to Portland. Violet then worked for Helen Barnes who took over Dr. Lyford’s practice. She also briefly worked at a real estate office before finishing her career providing administrative support for her husband’s financial planning business right up until they both retired around age 85. Vi loved to crochet intricate works, and then blessed many people with those gifts.
