Vance Clemmer, Jr. 91 died on August 20, 2022 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, his wife of 66 years was by his side.
He was born to Vance and Ruth Clemmer in 1931. He is survived by him immediate family; his wife, Joy; their children, Vance III of Richland and Carol Bolin of Starkville; three grandsons and one great grandson.
Vance graduated from Central High and Georgia Tech. He and his partner, Watts, opened their architectural firm, Clemmer and Clark in 1959. They designed many schools, churches, and other public buildings in the state. They also worked on the restorations of Smith, Simpson, and Carroll Counties. Their attention to details and perfection could be seen in their blueprints of pre-computer days.
Aside from work and family, Vance enjoyed God’s creation from his porches, to football and earlier attending bluegrass festivals throughout the southeast.
Vance, a lifelong Presbyterian and an elder was nurtured in his Christian walk in many Jackson churches.
