Todd Michael Marquardt Jr
March 15, 1996-September 16, 2019
Todd was not just “one of the good ones” but was the most kind, selfless, and wonderful person you could ever meet. He did everything he could to take care of those he loved and never complained about doing so. In his life, he hoped to make a small difference in this world, and he made a much larger impact than he could ever realize. He did not strive for attention but as soon as he walked in a room, everyone shouted his name and was happy to see him. He talked low and slow, always deliberate in what he said, and you usually had to ask twice before you could actually understand what he was telling you. He worked hard at The Arc of Mississippi where he had a whole other family of people who loved seeing him grow into the young man he became. While his hairstyles changed, his giving heart never did. He is a man of upstanding character and the type of person that so many strive to become but so many fall short of and was so successful just in 23 short years.
Todd is preceded in death by his grandfather Gary Dale Cochran; he is survived by his mother, Misty Ratliff; stepfather and friend, Benjamin Ratliff; Grandmother Honor Star Thorp; Step-Sister, and best friend, Arianna Ratliff; Step-sister, Clarissa Ratliff; Step-Brother, Damian Ratliff; the Vail family to include Shawn and Roxanne Vail, Tony and Tori Vail, Kris, Brittany, and Kash Randle, Colton, Stephanie, and Briella Vail. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. While we all mourn over the loss of such a wonderful man, Todd would encourage us to not focus on the bad for too long and instead focus on the love and joy in our lives that he brought.
Todd’s family would like to thank The Arc of Mississippi for their donation and all the love they have given Todd throughout the years. We are also thankful for the people at Dantzler Memorial First United Methodist Church for hosting Todd’s memorial in their beautiful and historic church.
