He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy and a member of the Sheridan VFW Post #5065. He was preceded in death by his father; sister Nancy Schrauben; step father, Gene W. Clark. Surviving are his wife of 41 years Carol Newkirk; children, Jon (Julie) Newkirk of Grand Rapids and Kristie Newkirk of Ionia; mother, Ethel Clark of Ionia; brother, Gene W. Clark of Ionia; sister Colleen Thompson of Arizona; brother-in-law, Ken Schrauben of Pewamo; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
