Thomas W. Maki, age 78, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at his home with family at his side. He was born June 1, 1938, in Hibbing the son of Jalmer and Eleanor Gardner Maki. He graduated from Hibbing High School, Hibbing Junior College and later from The Graduate School of Banking. He served in the National Guard, the Hibbing Jaycees and was Chairman of the Range Shrine Circus for many years. His love of antique furniture led to a life long business in restoration and sales. Tom was united in marriage to Diana Jurenic on July 11, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Diana; children: Tim (Annette) Maki of Hibbing, and Jenna Maki (Mick Bird) of Hibbing; step-children: Wendy Dickhausen of Virginia, MN, Joel (Christina) Dickhausen of Markham, MN, and Jeremy (Jennifer Bostrom) Tidd of North Branch, MN; grandchildren: Stephanie Maki and Deanna Maki; step-grandchildren: Riley Dickhausen, Nico Dickhausen, Jakob Dickhausen, and Bella Tidd; great-grandchildren (his “little buddies”): Landan Sellman, Levi Wesley, and Connor Grummet; sister: Ione Carlson of Hibbing; and many friends.
The family would like to thank Fairview Home Care & Hospice, Kate, Ann, Marcia, Sue, Steve, Jason and everyone else involved in his care.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife: Carol (2005).
