Thomas Ellwood Hallowell, Jr., age 79, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at home. He was born June 1, 1930 in Bristol, PA, the son of Thomas Ellwood and Esther Lily (Titus) Hallowell, Sr.. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Alice Drevland in Albuquerque, NM in June of 1952.
Tom was employed as a Lutheran Brotherhood Agent and was also with Erie Mining Company and Hibbing Precision. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing, Sons of Norway, Midnotsolen Lodge #058, and the ROMEO Club.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Alice; his children: Thomas Roy (Collette Kowalski) Hallowell of Windom, KS, Roger Alan (Connie) Hallowell of Cherry, MN, and Deborah Lou (Jeffrey) Rootes of Circle Pines, MN; grandchildren: Rebecca, Miranda, Roger, Jr., Sarah, Whitney, Alayna, Travis, Ga ry, and Jason; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Chloe, Georgie, Hailey, McKenzie, Michael, Mitchell, and Rhianna; sisters: Vivian Taggard of Las Vegas, NV and Lilly Rostron of Westchester, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son: Larry.
