Theodore Arcadius “Ted” Maki, age 61 of Virginia died Monday, March 9, 2015. He was born April 6, 1953 in Virginia, the son of Melven A. and Marguerite (Ogden) Maki, was a graduate of Virginia Roosevelt High School, Hibbing Community College’s Culinary Arts Program. Ted grew up in Virginia, spent summers on Sand Lake, and lived in Eveleth and Lake Vermilion – Tower prior to returning to Virginia. He was employed by the Duluth-Mesabi and Iron Range Railroad, owned and operated the Virginia Public Sauna, and a chef at various local restaurants: the Elroy, Coates Plaza Hotel, Fortune Bay, and the Eshquagama Country Club. Ted was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an accomplished story teller. He was a very friendly man who was very helpful and thoughtful of others.

Ted is survived by his children: Tara (Steve) McDowell of Virginia and Paul Richards of Tower; grandchildren: Zachary, Noah and Luke and brothers: M. Arthur (Vi) Maki of Hutter, Nick (Mary) Maki of Hibbing and Robert (Brenda) Maki of Buhl; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew: Nicholas Andrew Maki.
