Yarmouth-Thelma K. Day, 91, of Bay Square Yarmouth passed peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.
She was born in South Portland on November 26, 1925, a daughter of Anson F. and Thelma (Lowe) Keith.
She attended Pownal Center’s one room schoolhouse, Yarmouth Schools and North Yarmouth Academy, where she won an award for sewing. She was employed at American Can in Portland during World War II and on February 14, 1947 she married Robert Neal Day, Jr. They owned and operated Day’s Crabmeat in Yarmouth for 35 years, retiring in 1988.
Thelma was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She made her daughter’s clothes and her husband’s shirts.
