Sylvia Jean Stroup, 55, of Steelville, MO passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at her home. She was born August 17, 1952 in Steelville, MO to Landis and Alva (Conaway) Callahan. On March 17, 1978 she was united in marriage to Raymond Stroup who survives of the home. Sylvia and Raymond’s love for one another was very special and he devoted his life to her.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of thirty years; one son, Jeffery Thompson and wife Amber of Sperry, OK; one daughter, Crystal Britton and husband Garnett of Cuba, MO; two brothers, Sam Callahan and wife Lilli of Cuba, MO and Steve Callahan and companion Tammra Durbin of Viburnum, MO; six sisters, Anita Nickelson, Sharon Thompson, Sondra Veach and husband Johnny and Shelia Simpson and husband Dennis all of Steelville, MO, Cathy Brown and husband Dwayne of Cherryville, MO and Pat Reed of Pacific, MO; five grandchildren, Alissa Thompson, Macy Thompson, Hailee Britton, Hannah Britton and Walker Britton, the only grandson, who she called “her little man.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister, Fern Ellen Callahan; two brothers-in-law, Don Nickelson and Lindell Thompson.
Sylvia was a long-time member of the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church.
She loved singing and listening to gospel music, but most of all loving her grandchildren.
