Stuart “Stewey” Hurst, 73, lifelong resident of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018, in Vibra Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Stuart Loring Hurst was born on October 31, 1944, in Warren, to Lester Joseph and Hazel Florence (Davidson) Hurst. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church from the day his baptism to his passing. Stewey attended Warren High School and, at the insistence of his mother, graduated in 1961 in the first class of Special Education students. Stewey was a fixture in the Warren community, attending countless sporting events and remembering many students that graduated from the high school over the years. Just about everyone has a “Stewey Story” of one kind or another. He bowled in the local league and golfed for many years, and was active with the Sons of the American Legion and Lions Club. He was proud of his involvement in the clubs and loved to wear his uniforms.
In addition to holding jobs with Arctic Cat, Cenex, the City of Warren, American Crystal Sugar, and Mick’s Bar and Grill, Stewey also cleaned, mowed, and shoveled snow at various businesses around town. Stewey looked forward to getting older every year, and loved that his birthday was on Halloween. In his final year Stewey had to leave Warren, moving to the Benedictine Living Community in Ada, MN, to receive more care. He will be greatly missed by the many that knew and cared for him.
Stuart is survived by his son, Scott Hurst of Bemidji, MN; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jerry Anfinson of Naples, FL and Austin, MN; nieces and nephews, Amy Anfinson, Sarah Kapinski, and Eric Anfinson; their children, Joseph and Claudia Kapinski, and Sarah Hand; and several cousins.
