Stella Olida Krankkala Omdahl, 92, of rural Warren, MN, passed away early Sunday morning, April 24, 2011 at her son’s home in Thief River Falls, MN with her family by her side.

Stella Olida Omundson was born on February 23, 1919 at Thief River Falls, MN, Silverton Township, the daughter of Peder and Jennie (Westby) Omundson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Silverton Lutheran Church and attended rural school in Thief River Falls and St. Hilaire, attended St. Hilaire High School and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture at Crookston, MN. She was employed at the Oakland Park Sanatorium, Jungs Bakery and J.C. Penney in Thief River Falls. On July 20, 1940, she married Albert John Krankkala. Three children were born to his union. Albert died in 1961.

On June 13, 1970, she married Eldor Omdahl. They made their home on a farm in rural Warren. Stella and Eldor donated the land that became the Wetlands, Pines, and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary.

Survivors are her husband, Eldor Omdahl of Warren, MN; children, Sam (Kathy) Krankkala of Marco Island, FL and Plymouth, MN, Susan Treague of Manassas, VA and John (Cindy) Krankkala of Thief River Falls, MN; five grandchildren, Lowell (Deena) Treague, Royce (Jan) Treague, Ryan (Tami) Treague, Kari (Kevin) Dubord and Jessica (Ryan) Whitefield; nine great-grandchildren, Kelsey Treague, Loren Treague, Austin Treague, Tyler Treague, Carson Treague, Landon Treague, Adela Dubord, Peter Dubord and Oliver Whitefield; sisters, Edna Thorstad of Dunsmuir, CA and Eunice Omundson of Anaheim, CA and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Krankkala; parents; one brother and four sisters.
