Sophia “Fern” Hedrick, 87, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 at Gibbs Care Center. She was born March 3, 1920 in Crawford County, Missouri to Isaac and Margaret (Fitzwater) Ransom. On March 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Cecil Hedrick who preceded her in death on October 12, 1981.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Don and wife Janet Hedrick and Jerry Hedrick all of Steelville, Missouri; one brother, Herbert Ransom of Steelville; one sister Vetta and husband Eldon Dunlap of Steelville, Missouri; four grandchildren Kim Wood of Steelville, Missouri, Tammy Good and husband Greg of Kansas, Richard Hedrick and wife Mary of Florida, Tracey Crosby and husband Scott of Kansas; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends. Her parents, husband, and one grandson, Nathan Hedrick preceded her in death.
Fern had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Steelville for 32 years. During the years that her health permitted, she loved to travel, sew, quilt and work on crossword puzzles. Fern was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Steelville.
