Simon “Simmy” M. Smith
Westphalia
Age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at home with his family at his side. He was born on January 19, 1922 in Westphalia the son of Joseph and Eleanor (Schafer) Smith. Simmy was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Westphalia, St. Joseph Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He retired from General Motors in 1981 after 35 years of service. He proudly served his country during WW II serving in Europe, where he was held as a P.O.W.. He was member of the V.F.W. Post #3733 Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia Post. On June 18, 1947 he married Revella Hanses. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Carli Smith; brothers Clarence, Robert, Ambrose, Joseph, and Charles Smith; sisters Roberta Weber and Caroline Rockey. Surviving are his wife of 60 and half years, Revella; children Glenn (Marie) Smith, Sharon (Ken) Miller, Donna (Bruce) Devereaux, Judy “Jude” (Fred) Kramer and Amy (John) Miller; 24 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Leo Rockey and David (Kate) Hanses; sisters-in-law Kathleen (Robert) Barker, Dorothy Hattis, Liz (Robert) Spitzley; many nieces and nephews.
