Shirley Ann Abar (nee Greene) of Livonia was born in Detroit on January 12, 1931 to Bruce Greene and Clara Miller. Shirley passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2021 just shy of her 91st birthday. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Frank Abar, her parents and brother Bruce Greene. She is survived by their three children Robert (Cynthia), Carol Van Dyne (Lawrence) and Keith, three cherished grandchildren Stephen (Rachel) Abar, Kristen Van Dyne, and Gregory (Margaret) Van Dyne. Shirley was the very proud great-grandmother of four beautiful children, Brynn & Lincoln Abar and Louise & Jane Van Dyne. Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Shirley was an active supporter of the Community Opportunity Center (COC) of Livonia and the Arc of Northwest Wayne County for more than 20 years volunteering her time wherever help was needed in an effort to enrich not only Keith’s life, but others with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Shirley was an avid reader, loved to play golf, bowl and spend time with her family.
