Harpswell – Sheila Eileen Sanborn died at the age of 60 on Sunday, January 22, 2017 after a year long battle with cancer.
She was born on March 5, 1956 in Barre, Vermont, the daughter of Lillian Smith and Edward Grant.
Besides her family, Sheila’s true passion was animals, especially dogs. She spent the last fifteen years boarding dogs in her house as Sheila’s Dog House in Harpswell Maine. Her magic touch with animals endeared her to all her doggy guests and their owner parents. Her daughter Rebecca and husband will continue her legacy.
Sheila also enjoyed collecting Native American jewelry, dreamcatchers, and anything that had to do with wolves. Browsing yard sales with her daughter was another one of her loves. She will be greatly missed by the many people who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
Sheila is predeceased by her parents and her sister Sandra Grant.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 41 years Dwight Sanborn of Harpswell, a daughter, Rebecca Sanborn of Harpswell, and a son, Nicholas Sanborn of Brunswick. She is also survived by her siblings Sharon and husband Francis Galipeau and their daughter Kimberly of Sabattus, her brother Samuel and his wife Judy Grant of Dallas, Texas, and sister, Stacy Fortier of Auburn.
