Freeport – Sharyl Holland Webster passed away in the early morning hours of November 30th 2021, Sharyl was born on November 27th 1939 in West Chazy, NY to George and Marian (Holland) Webster. She was able to see all of her family for Thanksgiving and her birthday just a few days before passing.
Sharyl attended Vincentian Institute in Albany where she made lifelong friends who gathered recently to celebrate their 60th high school reunion together in 2017. Sharyl attended Crane Music school where she studied piano, her lifelong passion. She worked at American Airlines and would fondly reminisce about the trips she got to take, San Francisco being a favorite destination. She and her former husband, Timothy Garrity, relocated to North Creek, NY to raise their family and run a business. Here she met her other life long friend Lois Yandon and her 5 children who lovingly called her Mrs. G for her whole life. Sharyl’s children, Shannon Bridget and Thaddeus George, were both born in North Creek. Sharyl was heavily involved in local organizations in the town and in the Johnsburg School District accompanying many of the high school musicals and playing piano at the St James Church.
Sharyl returned to Albany and worked for many years at the NYS PTA office before moving to Maine to be closer to her daughter, Shannon, and her brother, David, and his wife Nancy. Sharyl spent many years working at Burgess Advertising and became the pianist at St Jude’s Parish in Freeport. A job she held until a year before she passed. Sharyl loved working with the parish kids for a children’s Christmas choir and especially loved when her granddaughter, Maggie, would accompany her on flute. She could be found most 4th of July mornings playing music, smiling and greeting everyone as people waited to enjoy their pancakes at the church’s annual breakfast. Sharyl took great joy in participating with Greater Freeport Community Chorus and Freeport Community Players both singing and playing piano.
Sharyl was an outstanding bridge player, loved to read and had an infectious laugh that could make anyone laugh. She loved her family, lighthouses, and baseball. She rarely watched a baseball game, rather listening to them on the radio as she could see the whole game in her head, thanks to years of watching her brothers play and hearing her father narrate the games. Sharyl is predeceased by her father George, mother Marian, Aunt and dear friend Margaret (Holland) Hebert, her brother Thomas George and her son Thaddeus George. Sharyl is survived by brother David Constant and wife Nancy C Salmon, her daughter Shannon Bridget and granddaughter Margaret Sharyl Ryan. As well as several nieces and nephews.
