Sharon Lea Wood of Warroad passed away at the Warroad Senior Living Center on November 1, 2022 at the age of 82.

Sharon was born on April 24, 1940 in Warroad to Carl and Inez (Maxe) Lofgren. On February 14, 1957, Sharon married Stuart Wood in Williams, MN. She worked as a nurse in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Renton, Washington, and Baudette and Warroad Hospitals. Sharon also worked in Child Care in Gimli, Manitoba and was a Co-owner with her husband of Stu’s Tavern in Warroad. She also had jobs at the Warroad Municipal Liquor Store and the manager at 7 Clans Casino Snack Bar. Sharon retired from ODC Job Training in Baudette.

Sharon attended The Assembly of God. She was well known for always having a smile on her face and was ready to pat your hands instead of a hand shake. Sharon volunteered to help anyone that needed it. Her and  her husband Stu always had an open door to their home if anyone needed a roof over their head. They even took in out of state hockey players that played for the Warroad Lakers until the end of the season. Sharon will always be remembered for her very loving heart.

Sharon had many interests and talents.  She enjoyed farming and gardening, hosting bible studies and cooking.  She always cooked enough for an army while singing and dancing at the same time.  She baked many ‘dainties’ at Christmastime and was sure to make everyone’s favorite and set some aside especially for them.

She loved to fish, was a passionate animal lover of all kinds (tame or not); whether it be helping the cows escape before being hauled away, feeding the squirrels, or adopting a cat or dog.  She was a great back seat driver and was always up for any adventure. Since so many people knew her, it was as if we were in the presence of a rockstar or celebrity when venturing around with her.

Sharon was often heard telling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to ‘tidy up’ and provided them with many words of wisdom.

Amid anyone’s crisis, she’d take charge and put a plan together to help whoever out in any way that she could.

Most of all, she adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  The feelings were mutual; we all loved ‘GG’ and we will miss her and her heart of gold dearly. The family wishes to thank the Warroad Senior Living Care Center for the excellent care and love given to Grandma Sharon.

Sharon is survived by her children, Shelli (Stan) Spina of Warroad, MN, Steven (Susan) Wood of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Samantha (Ryan Shirley) Nichols of Thief River Falls, Mn; siblings, Ray Lofgren, Donald Lofgren, Lu Ann Pedersen, and Dale Lofgren; grandchildren, Joab, Hayley (Doug), Caleb, Sean (Bethany), Devin (Heather), Tiffany, Brian, and Craig; Great Grandchildren, Ava, Braxton, Camden, Marcus, Athena, Atticus, Lennox, Noah, Annabel, Madison, and Abbigal; Son-in-law, Ray Nichols of Warroad; and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Wood; parents, Carl and Inez Lofgren; grandson, Ian Wood, Derek Pieper; brother, Richard Lofgren; and sister-in-law Karol Lofgren.
