Shane was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and graduated from Portland High School in 2004. He enjoyed attending car shows, listening to music, being outdoors and all his pets. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Schmitt. Surviving are his mother Liz Platte of Portland; father Brian (Lisa) Platte of Swanton, OH; brothers Brian (Jill Hodges) Platte of Portland, Kiel (Kayla Keeven) Platte of Pewamo and Evan Platte of Portland; sister Ashley Guthridge of Pennsylvania; special friend Kelli Petersen; grandparents John Schmitt and Bill and Connie Platte all of Westphalia; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
