Selma Mildred Swanson, 94, of Roseau, MN, died Friday, September 29, 2006 in the Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau. She was born to Nick and Clara (Halvorson) Heskin on April 14, 1912 in Pinecreek, MN, which was the same day the Titanic sunk. She grew up and attended school in Roseau graduating from Roseau High School in 1931. She went on to the Mayville Teachers College graduating with a teaching degree in 1933.
Selma taught in the area for several years and then moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1942. She married Thomas P. Swanson in Los Angeles on April 14, 1952. She was employed as a waitress in the Beverly Hills area, until her retirement.
Selma moved back to Roseau in 1994, where she lived in her own home until March 29, 2005. She was an avid golfer up until the past few years and you could find her on the golf course at 7:00 am.
