Sandra Marie “Sandy” Dickson, age 55 of Zim died Sunday, October 13, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospice after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born November 17, 1957 in Hibbing the daughter of Orville and Donna (DeJarlais) Wedin and was a graduate of Cherry High School. Sandy married Kenneth Lee Dickson on August 7, 1976 and was a longtime resident of Zim. She was a homemaker, was employed early in her career by Hibbing Printed Circuits and later was a server at the “Thirsty Moose”. Sandy loved animals, especially her dogs and horses and celebrating her wedding anniversary in Michigan at the NASCAR race. Her family was her highest priority; she provided daycare for her family and extended family and cherished time with family at her lake home.
Sandy is survived by her husband: Ken Dickson; children: Jeremy Dickson of Zim, Serena (Rich) Helms of Zim and Megan (Erick Deslongchamps) of Hibbing; siblings: Chris Luukkonen of Hibbing, Theresa (Leo) Rautio of Mt. Iron, and Mike Wedin of Britt; grandchildren: Ricky Helms, Taylor Wilson, Weslee Helms, Aunika Helms, and Ericka Deslongchamps; an “honorary adopted daughter” Svea Forsberg of Minneapolis, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son: Joshua.
