Bowdoin – Sandra Lee (Meserve) Robbins, 75, of Augusta Road died suddenly on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Bath on August 23, 1947, to her loving parents Erville K. and Leota E. (Merry) Meserve.
Sandy was a member of the class of 1965 at Wiscasset High School where she met some of her dearest, lifelong friends. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1969 with a degree in education. On November 23, 1984, she married her beloved husband, Edward J. Robbins at their home in Bowdoin.
She began her career as a kindergarten teacher in Allagash, then continued on to Bowdoin Central School where she worked for many years as a Chapter One Tutor. Her love of history and genealogy led her to volunteer for the Meserve Family Genealogical Society.
Sandy was a bright light to all who knew her and was always quick to lend an ear or offer a home. She could often be found dancing and singing at home in her kitchen, with music playing, or without. She loved literature, and like her parents, she always loved a good joke; she was a master of puns. Sandy and husband, Ned were active participants in the Boy Scouts and could be found jitterbugging into the night at a sock hop, watching birds at the many feeders at their home, or relaxing on the float at their cottage in Phippsburg.
Sandy is survived by her husband Edward Robbins of Bowdoin; children Nathan Shea (Jennifer Crittenden) of Brewer, ME, Heather Shea (William Manuel) of Burlington, VT, Amanda Robbins of Denver, CO, and Rebecca Robbins (Ronnie Bushway) of Colchester, VT. She leaves behind her grandchildren Emma, Olivia, Logan, and Anthony, and a great-grandchild, Erik, all of whom she loved deeply.
